Summer goals
Update the girls' room -- Joan is really wanting her own room, but my husband is worried about our new roof (still smells off-gassy on the 3rd floor) and it's really great to have them both on the 2nd floor for bedtime near our main bathroom. So instead, I want to get them some space of their own within their shared room.
Little free library -- Build a little free library for our front with the girls. Just pay extra to get the premade kit and screw in post. I like the blue one.
Focus on my own health -- finally want to lose the extra weight from having Dory, but more importantly just want to get into a more sustainable heathy daily routines, like going to the gym, couch to 10k again, eating whole foods at home and on a rhythm (the French way -- 8am, 12pm, 3pm, dinner), and keep up with walking. Just going to work 10 lbs at a time. Maybe the little free library can be one of my early rewards!
Declutter the house -- Basically just get rid of so much stuff so that we have a usable house again! I think the week after vacation I'm going to get one of those dumpster bags and just use it to fill it with all of our crap and stuff from the basement that isn't worth selling. And just all of the crap throughout the house that we do not need anymore. We have a 2400 square foot house, but it's a row house thats long and skinny, and I am a minimalist at heart.
Reset my space routines -- Decluttering the house is really in service of this goal, which is to get back into the routine of resetting my space throughout the day and staying on top of the clutter and chores so that it feels easy to care for. I was at this point once, when Joan was about 4, so it feels totally doable (but not with the house in the current state that its in!)
Garden and yard routine -- Get into a good routine with the gardens and yard! We have a super small yard so this should be do-able but things get away from me! Mainly I want to fix the trees (replace the dead one and move the tipping one), and possibly rearrange the side garden a little. I also want to get some more perennials for the front and replace the pots with other annuals. Oh and also get into a mowing routine I can sustain.
Goals for the kids -- Wanting to work a few things into our days more consistently. Working on our evening chores (and possibly adding morning chores), making sure we have time for daily reading of long chapter books with them, and making space for their bridge workbook activities. Also wanting Brandon to play the game with Joan (the math game he bought for her) and possibly let Joan stay up later to play games or read with us now that she's bigger. I had also thought about an old goal we did, which was taking a walk to the playground to bike or play after dinner.
