Fixing a bike flat and family fun day at the pool!
Today was such a great summer weekend day! The weather was beautiful and I got to take an early walk by myself to the coffee shop. I decided to take the kids bike riding and then to the pool for the afternoon.
Brandon helped us get the bikes ready and tires pumped up, but discovered that Joan had a flat tire. Like, completely flat. We checked for patch supplies at home, but no dice. So the girls and I decided to go to the bike shop to repair the tire.
It's the cutest bike shop / coffee shop on a trail in the woods. We waited patiently for our turn.

Only to find out that the mechanic doesn't work on the weekends. The bike store was SO sweet. She helped us buy a patch kit and then said we could use any of the tools in the bike fixing room.
THEN a super nice guy behind us in bike gear said he owned a bike shop in another city and would we like him to show us how to patch the tire. So sweet and a great experience for all of us.
First we found the hole in the tire.

Then he showed us how to patch it! He said the patch likely won't really hold because it would have to go on the seam. Right at that moment the coffee shop woman came out and gave us a new tube! She said it was on the house since she felt bad there was no mechanic to help us. The whole thing was so wholesome and adorable. The guy and his wife patiently explained how to fix the flat with the patch, and then when that came off (as he predicted!), how to change the tube.
Dory was waiting patiently the whole time and taking boochie on a ride around in her new bike basket (courtesy of grammy).

We were all fixed up just a few minutes later! What a wonderful experience. We will 1000% be back to this place for coffee and bike supplies!!

We ended up taking the bikes home and then walking them to the tot lot for some riding around at on the seminary paths and parking lot. Then we went home to get ready for the pool. We picked up Joan's BFF Emaline and spent the afternoon at the pool for family fun day! The big girls just went off by themselves doing whatever (HOW do I have a child this big!), and Dory alternated between going in the pool with dad and asking for snacks.

There were a bunch of fun games in the afternoon, including a candy scramble, soda toss, and beer/seltzer toss. Those just mean that everyone stands on the edge, they throw a million cans in the pool and then you jump in and try to grab one!
Brandon did the beer toss and I did the seltzer toss. Here's Brandon strategizing with the guy next to him about where they would jump.

He got one!
